ROSEANN MASTROGIACOMO GATTO
A talented and gifted choreographer, ROSEANN MASTROGIACOMO GATTO, is a dedicated and inspiring instructor with a varied and extensive background in dance. Beginning her dance as a child, she had the wonderful opportunity to perform with Stars of Tomorrow at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City with the LorKay Dance Studio. Starting her education in business, she attended the Gloucester County College, receiving an Associates Degree in Marketing and Management. Later pursuing her dreams of dance, she attended the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts, now known as The University of the Arts. Roseann is proud of her dance scholarships to college where she received intensive training in all dance disciplines. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Theater Dance from the College of Performing Arts. Her education in jazz has been with Ronn Forella, Broadway Dance Center and Steps, all in New York City. She has also studied under such nationally acclaimed artists as Andrew Pap, Barbara Sandonato and Marion Toner. While attending the college, Roseann was chosen to perform “Air For the G String,” choreographed by Doris Humphrey and reconstructed by Joanne Tulli. She also had the honor of working and performing with Ernestine Stodelle, an original Doris Humphrey dancer, at the Merriam Theater (now called the Miller) in Philadelphia. Roseann was elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities and was graduated with honors. Roseann has been teaching and choreographing for the past forty-five years. In 1981, she choreographed for a Belgium tour in Europe and also danced with the troupe. Roseann and other Chez Dance Company members had the great experience performing at the Keswick Theater in Pennsylvania in the “I Hear America Singing” Production with Jonathan and his Orchestra. Other dance pieces choreographed by Roseann have been performed at Theatre 313, Channel13,Resorts Casino, Garden State Cultural Arts Center and the Merriam Theatre. She has been the director/coordinator of the “In the Spirit Dance Festival,” held at Rowan University and has organized the company to perform at the Wachovia Center for the Philadelphia 76ers and Harlem Globetrotters games. Her choreography was also chosen to perform at the Scottish Rite Theatre in the Garden State Dance Festival. Throughout the years, Roseann’s dance pieces have won numerous special acknowledgements during competition season, including multiple “Best Choreography”, “Judge’s Choice”, and “Impact” awards. She has also made it possible for the students to perform for several senior citizen homes over the years. Roseann has choreographed and coordinated the Chez Dance Company to have the most wonderful opportunity to perform at the Magic kingdom, EPCOT and Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida, with our most recent performance at Disney Springs in December of 2022. Our next Disney performance will be in December of 2024. Roseann taught at the Delaware County School of the Performing Arts, Jazz Unlimited in Marlton, The Children’s Academy in Cherry Hill and the Gloucester Township Summer Stage. She has taken many workshops in New York and Philadelphia to provide her students with the most contemporary dance techniques.
